Fitness has been a very influential aspect in my personal journey. Back in 2016 I suffered from a traumatic brain injury from a volleyball tournament, completely destroying my chances of pursuing college athletics. From there I battled depression, mobility and neurological issues, and eventually had to graduate high school as a sophomore due to learning disabilities.
From there I had no direction of where I wanted to go or what I wanted to do, but I missed that competitive aspect in my life.
I gained so much weight from not being active and restricted to the couch to allow my brain to recover, so my self esteem and relationship with food was an all time low.
I decided enough was enough and found myself inside a gym doing cardio since everything else in the gym was too intimidating. Eventually I signed up for those boot camp facilities, and found a coach to start teaching me strength training movements; from there I fell in love with fitness. Over the years I have wanted to learn all types of movement from yoga, to Pilates, Athletic conditioning, to CrossFit training, and even competing and winning 2 Powerlifting competitions.
My life was forever changed by health & fitness and there’s nothing I love more than helping individuals find their own passion and love with training in their own way. I provide my clients with all of my personal experience I’ve gained over the last 7 years, along with all the tools I’ve learned to overcome different injuries, life obstacles, and even “lack of motivation” phases because at the end of the day my job is to support my clients any way they need me!

I grew up as a competitive athlete, which led to me to move to Kansas after graduating high school to attend Fort Hays State University and compete as a NCAA Division II college wrestler. I also had the opportunity to coach high school wrestling for four years. In addition to coaching, I worked as a teacher and educator for a local school district, however, my passion for health and fitness led me to give up my career as a teacher in order to become a personal trainer. Hi, I’m Denise Rous, and I’m more than just a personal trainer—I’m living proof that transformation is possible, no matter how dark the road may seem.
My journey hasn’t been easy. For years, I battled depression, anxiety, and alcoholism. At my lowest, I weighed 200 pounds and felt completely disconnected from the woman I once was. One day, I looked in the mirror and made the decision to change. Through sheer determination, I dropped down to 135 pounds. But even after the weight loss, I struggled with loose skin, lack of muscle tone, and losing my curves. That’s when I decided it was time to take my fitness and nutrition to the next level.
Just as I was getting serious about building strength, life hit me hard. I had a seizure that led to a shocking diagnosis: a brain tumor. The depression and anxiety came flooding back. Doctors told me I needed surgery. I was scared, exhausted, and overwhelmed—but I made a promise to myself and my husband that once I recovered, I would give my health everything I had.
In November 2024, I underwent brain surgery. The recovery was intense. I lost my speech and couldn’t train like I wanted to. But by January 2025, I began regaining my voice and slowly easing back into workouts. Since then, I’ve been laser-focused—fueling my body with clean nutrition, training hard, and rebuilding from the inside out. Today, I weigh 150 pounds, and I’ve never felt stronger.
I became a personal trainer because I’ve walked through fire—and I came out stronger. I want to help others do the same. My passion lies in working with moms who feel stuck in their “mom body,” unsure how to prioritize themselves. As a mother of two, I get it. But I also know that taking care of ourselves is the best gift we can give our families.

Hello, my name is Derek Johnson. I was born in Oakland, California in May of 1981, and moved to Southern California at the age of 18. I joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in 29 Palms, California, which was not the most pleasant place to live.
After serving in Iraq in 2003, 1 moved to Okinawa, Japan for a short period before leaving the military in 2007. I have been settled in Temecula, where I still enjoy living today despite all this heat out here.
Fitness has always been an essential part of my life. I played basketball and swam in high school and became a martial arts instructor in the Marine Corps. I’ve been passionate about powerlifting for a long time and have since added Olympic lifting to my repertoire. I am certified to coach both, as I enjoy the technicality of the heavy lifts. Recently, I also ventured into bodybuilding, and became an IFBB Pro in the classic division. I work out six days a week, for two hours or more each day. As a personal trainer, I love helping people of all ages, from 9 to 79, achieve their fitness goals, whether it’s powerlifting, Olympic lifting, bodybuilding, strength and conditioning, or lifestyle changes. Katrina Aveno- Women’s Boxing
Your local female boxing coach here – and I coach boxing exclusively to women! My name is Katrina and I focus on boxing fundamentals to ensure all you boss ladies know how to box with proper technique all while getting a good workout in. But above that – my aim is to help my fighters build self-mastery in all areas of their life with the same principles used in boxing training.
Although I have been in and out of various types of combat sports in my youth, it wasn’t until 2014 when I picked up boxing at the very first Self Made Training Facility location and have trained consistently ever since.
After a few years, I took my boxing to the next level by competing on an amateur level. In the fight is where I put my skills to the real test. But my most significant accomplishment is not how many fights I’ve won, nor how much my boxing technique has improved – but mastering the ability to stay calm through chaos.
Through boxing, I have developed a resilient mindset to keep moving forward toward any goal I have set for myself and truly live life how it should be lived – for this reason, I became a boxing coach. Not only is boxing physically demanding, but requires strong mental fortitude and control of emotions in order to be a formidable fighter – which I hope all my fighters strengthen through their boxing training with me.
As a female in a male-dominated sport, I’ve also embraced the idea of the paradox – an “I can be both” type of ethos. Although boxing is an aggressive sport, I’m still very much in tune with my soft, feminine side. My vision as a boxing coach is to cultivate a superior breed of women who can carry themselves with kindness, but also have the ability to be relentless in pursuit of any dream.
