Derek Johnson – Personal Trainer in Temecula
Hello, my name is Derek Johnson. I was born in Oakland, California in May of 1981, and moved to Southern California at the age of 18. I joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in 29 Palms, California, which was not the most pleasant place to live.
After serving in Iraq in 2003, 1 moved to Okinawa, Japan for a short period before leaving the military in 2007. I have been settled in Temecula, where I still enjoy living today despite all this heat out here.
Fitness has always been an essential part of my life. I played basketball and swam in high school and became a martial arts instructor in the Marine Corps. I’ve been passionate about powerlifting for a long time and have since added Olympic lifting to my repertoire. I am certified to coach both, as I enjoy the technicality of the heavy lifts. Recently, I also ventured into bodybuilding, and became an IFBB Pro in the classic division. I work out six days a week, for two hours or more each day. As a personal trainer, I love helping people of all ages, from 9 to 79, achieve their fitness goals, whether it’s powerlifting, Olympic lifting, bodybuilding, strength and conditioning, or lifestyle changes.
